At any time, your contacts have the ability to opt out of some or all of your communications- this is their legal right. There are 3 options they can choose, and different ways to complete each option.
Unsubscribing from ALL texts
At any time, someone can unsubscribe from all text messages sent from your Gloo phone number by texting "STOP" or "UNSUBSCRIBE." Anyone who sends one of these messages will automatically be marked as Unsubscribed in your account. This will remove that person from all text communication with your account.
In order to make sure people are aware of this, the first text message someone gets sent from your Gloo phone number will automatically be amended with "Sent by ORG NAME. Text STOP to opt-out." This will only be sent once per person.
If someone texts into your number and they don't already have a profile created in your Gloo account (through a workflow, prayer request, etc.) this will be amended to the automatic response sent back to them.
When a person is added to your Gloo account by a Team Member manually, via CSV upload, or ChMS integration, this will be amended to the automatic response sent back to them.
In order to resubscribe, the person who texted "STOP" will need to text "START" to receive any further texts from your Gloo phone number.
Opting out of SOME texts
It is possible to use Workflows to allow people to opt out of just one part of your communication instead of all of it.
Let's say, for example, a volunteer at your church stops volunteering and would like to opt out of future texts sent to the volunteer group you have created in Gloo. If you create a simple Workflow with a keyword like DONE VOLUNTEER and a single step to "Remove a person from a group," then the volunteer can text DONE VOLUNTEER to have the system automatically remove them from the volunteer group so that they won't receive future texts sent to that group.
In order to bring awareness of these special opt out keywords, you'll want to let people know in a broadcast or other auto response how to opt out of just this portion of communication.
For example, in a broadcast that's sent out to your volunteer group you could include this at the end: "If you no longer want to be a part of our volunteers, respond with DONE VOLUNTEER"
Unsubscribing from ALL emails
For every email that is sent to your contacts, the footer of the email will contain an Unsubscribe link. Once someone clicks on the Unsubscribe link, their Email status will be updated to Unsubscribed. You can view a contact's email status by locating them under People and clicking on their profile.
Once a contact clicks Unsubscribe in an email, they will be redirected to this page confirming they have been Unsubscribed.
If a contact later wants to resubscribe, you can simply navigate to their profile under People and click the Send Resubscribe Email button.
Your contact will receive an email to click a link to resubscribe. Once they successfully resubscribe, they will be linked to a page confirming the update.
