Memos

Send rich, formatted messages with styling, links, and images in a single, easy-to-view experience!

Are you looking to send a simple text, newsletter, bulletin or all church announcement with bold headings, colorful fonts, and photos but run into a limit when sending content as a text message? Good news! With Gloo's new Memos, you can now send longer messages and include richer formatting options such as font selections, bold, italics, inserting images and adding bullet points to create eye catching messages to your Connections!

How to Create a New Memo

  1. Navigate to Communications -> Communications- > Memos.

  2. Create New Memo

  3. Add a Title! This will display above your memo in the message after it's sent out.

  4. Within the Preview window, you can now choose visuals that make your Memos stand out and grab your connections’ attention. Make your messages even more eye-catching uploading your own images directly or browsing the library to search for a stock image.

You can also choose whether or not to show preview text over the preview image when your Memos are shared. Simply check/uncheck the preview text box to keep your shared links looking clean and focused.

  5. Rich formatting options are available next to your font menu. You can change the font, font color, bold, italicize and underline messages, change the text alignment, or format a part of your message as a quote.

  6. To add a bullet or numbered list, click on the appropriate icon.

  7. To insert a link, highlight the text you want to associate to the link, then click the chain icon & enter the full website address, then click Save.

Pro tip: Creating memos with links inserted that you would normally send out as just a link in a Broadcast is a great way to avoid being marked as spam by phone carriers!

  8. Just like when creating Broadcasts, you can insert pictures, videos, and emojis, and even customize the Memo with the first, last, or full name of the recipient.

Supported picture file types are .jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .bmp, and .png, with a maximum file size of 525 kB. Supported video file types are .mov and .mp4, with a maximum file size of 500 MB. If the file is too large, the system will require you to crop your image or video.

  9. After you have crafted your Memo, click Create Memo. Once created, you'll see a success message dialog box on your screen in the bottom right corner. After that, this memo is ready to send!

Note: Your Memo will appear within Gloo and to your recipient as a link. Once they click the link, they will see your crafted message with all formatting applied. Make sure your Connections have your toll-free number saved as a contact to prevent messages from going to spam or junk folders.

How to Send a Memo

Memos can be attached to any type of message (Broadcast, Workflow step, individual message, etc), but here we'll walk through attaching a Memo to a Broadcast.

  1. Navigate to Communications -> Broadcasts -> Create New Broadcast

  2. Select the Insert a Memo icon, and click on the memo you'd like to add to your broadcast!

  3. This will insert the Memo into your Broadcast as a simple link. In order to make sure your contacts know what you are talking about, and to make the message feel less spammy, we always encourage you to add some additional text to the message, explaining what it is.

How to Edit a Memo 📝

  1. All of your previous Memos can be viewed and edited for later use. To edit a memo, just navigate to Communications -> Memos and click the edit icon next to the Memo you want to edit. You can also open the editor by clicking on the memo card.

  2. Within your Preview dialog box, make any changes to your message and click Update.

  3. If you have a large collection of Memos and need to quickly find the Memo you have to edit, use the search bar and enter the memo title.

  4. You can also organize the list using the filtering options and select the preferred list view option!
