Messaging Powerpacks for additional messaging credits

Need more than your allotted monthly credits? No problem! Use power packs to purchase additional credits.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Previously all free Gloo accounts belonging to faith-based organizations were eligible for 10,000 free messaging credits per month. However, this limit has changed as of Feb 1, 2026 to instead be 500 free messaging credits per month.

But what if you need more? No problem! A Gloo+ membership and Powerpacks give you the ability to add messaging credits to make sure you can stay engaged with your people.

Messaging Credit Overview

Messaging credits are used for all outgoing texts from Gloo Workspace. In its simplest definition, one message credit is an outgoing text of up to 160 characters to a single recipient. Adding additional things like more characters, emojis, or images will all change the number of credits used per recipient.

Note that only outbound messages count toward the limit- incoming messages sent to your Gloo phone number are completely unlimited and free, so people will never be accidentally cut off from getting in touch with you.

For detailed information on how to know exactly how many credits any message will cost, make sure to read our article "What are message credits? How are they counted and tracked?"

Free Gloo Accounts

All free Gloo accounts, as long as they belong to and are used by faith-based organizations for the purpose of staying in touch with their congregants or doing outreach and ministry, are eligible for 500 free credits per month.

These credits do not roll over, and are automatically refreshed in your account on the first of every calendar month.

If you are at the limit and try to send or schedule a message for the same calendar month that goes over the limit, you will be prompted to upgrade to a Gloo+ account so that you can purchase additional credits. In order to access more messaging credits per month, all Gloo free accounts must first upgrade to Gloo+.

Remember that incoming messages are completely unlimited and free, so people will never be accidentally cut off from getting in touch with you!

Gloo+ Accounts

Gloo+ accounts receive 15,000 messaging credits per month. Just like with a free Gloo account, these messaging credits do not roll over.

In order to access more messaging credits per month, all Gloo free accounts must first upgrade to Gloo+. Think of your Gloo+ upgrade as your first Powerpack, but one that also comes with a ton of extra benefits!

Unlike free accounts though, messaging credits for Gloo+ do not refresh on the first of each month. Instead, messaging credits for Gloo+ accounts refresh monthly on the date of your Gloo+ purchase. For example, if you purchased a monthly Gloo+ subscription on June 15, your credits will refresh on July 15 and each subsequent month on the 15th. Similarly, if you purchased an annual Gloo+ subscription on June 15, your credits will again refresh on July 15 and each subsequent month on the 15th.

The next billing date / refresh date of your Gloo+ membership and any Powerpacks can always be viewed on your Subscriptions tab.

Additional Messaging Credits

But what if you need more than 15,000 messaging credits per month? No problem! That's where Powerpacks come in. Gloo+ users can purchase additional Powerpacks of 5,000 messaging credits for $50 each, coming in at just $0.01 per credit. Remember that in order to purchase a Powerpack, you must first upgrade from a free account to a Gloo+ account.

Any time you purchase a Powerpack, the additional credits will be granted immediately and will expire/refresh at the same time as the rest of your credits. So beware! If you purchase a Powerpack on June 12 and your renewal date is June 15, you'll have to spend all of those credits before June 15, or you'll lose them, and your Powerpack will automatically renew, and you'll be charged another $50.

Purchasing Powerpacks

Note that any Team Member with Admin level permissions will be able to purchase, modify, and cancel Powerpacks on your account.

  1. Log into your Gloo account. If you have a free account, make sure to visit https://app.gloo.us/gloo-plus and upgrade to Gloo+ to increase your monthly credit limit to 15,000 and unlock the ability to purchase Powerpacks.

  2. If you are already a Gloo+ member, hover over your profile icon in the bottom left corner of your Gloo account, then click Subscriptions.

  3. Click +$50/mo to purchase a Messaging Powerpack.

  4. Select the number of Powerpacks you'd like to purchase and click Apply. The total price will be shown.

If paying by credit card, the card will be charged immediately and the powerpacks will be added immediately to your account. You can also pay via ACH transfer, but this is only available for payments larger than $300, which means you must purchase at least 6 powerpacks to use this option. ACH payments typically take 2-3 business days to clear, and the credits will not be available in your account until it clears. If you'd like to set up ACH, click Billing Details.

Once you're ready to confirm, click Buy.

  5. The new number and cost of your Powerpacks will be immediately be shown on your Subscriptions tab.

  6. Once the payment clears (credit card or ACH), the credits will be added to your account and visible on your main Communications tab. Remember that for credit card payments this is generally instantaneous (within a few minutes), but ACH payment may take a few days to clear.

Managing or Canceling Powerpacks

Maybe you know that this month you will be doing a texting campaign requiring 30,000 credits, but in the future you'll want to drop back down to the normal 15,000 included with Gloo+. No problem! Changing the number of Powerpacks on your account is easy.

  1. Hover over your profile icon in the bottom left corner of your Gloo account, then click Subscriptions.

  2. Click the Manage button next to your Powerpack(s).

  3. The first screen will tell you how many Powerpacks you currently have active.

  4. Click the + or - buttons to add or remove Powerpacks. As you make the changes, you will be told what affect this will have on your account. For example, these screenshots show a church that has 3 Powerpacks already, and is adding a fourth.

If you are adding additional Powerpacks, the amount shown is what your total monthly charge will be for the Powerpacks moving forward. However, today you'll only be charged $50 per additional Powerpack purchased. So in this example the monthly charge increases to $200 for 4 Powerpacks, but only $50 will be charged today, since only 1 Powerpack is being added.

If you are removing Powerpacks, there will not be any immediate change to your billing, and you will not lose any of the credits from your Powerpack. Those credits will remain available to you, but on your next billing date the Powerpack(s) you removed will not renew and your card will not be charged. But note that on this screen you can only edit down to a minimum of one Powerpack- if you want to completely cancel all of your Powerpacks, jump down to the Canceling Powerpacks section of this article.

  5. When you are ready to finalize the change, click Update Subscription.

  6. Just like when you purchase a Powerpack for the first time, the new number and cost of your Powerpacks will be immediately be shown on your Subscriptions tab. Once the payment clears (credit card or ACH), the credits will be added to your account and visible on your main Communications tab. Remember that for credit card payments this is generally instantaneous (within a few minutes), but ACH payment may take a few days to clear.

  7. If you would like to simply cancel all of your powerpacks, instead of adjusting the numbers just click Cancel Powerpack. This will cancel all Powerpacks in your account. Remember that this change does not take affect immediately, and you will not lose any of your existing credits for this billing period. This simply means the Powerpacks will not renew on your next billing date.

Note: If you want to make changes to your Powerpack subscriptions after you've cancelled them, before being able to increase or reduce the number of active Powerpacks, you will need to click Reactivate Powerpacks first. This will not cause an immediate charge, but will simply restore the packs so that you can modify them instead of fully cancelling them.
